Happynest Homes was born from a spirit of adventure and a vision to change the way we live—by creating contemporary prefab homes that offer a smarter, more sustainable alternative to traditional housing.
Our Story
In 2021, tired of the corporate grind, we chose a different path. We left it all behind to explore Europe in a self-built, off-grid camper van — with our loyal dog, Chief, always by our side.
Life on the road brought us freedom, clarity, and a deep love for small, intentional spaces. After converting vans and cabins ourselves, we knew how powerful great design could be – and how little the traditional housing market reflected that.
We didn’t want a big, boxy house with a lifetime mortgage and no garden. But the alternatives were often soulless, cramped, or poorly built. So, we decided to create something better.
With a shared love of architecture, natural materials, and clever design, we set out to build homes that were thoughtful in every detail — warm, efficient spaces that feel like sanctuaries, not burdens.
That vision became Happynest Homes: Crafting contemporary spaces that lift you up, not tie you down.
Meet the Founders
Rob
A Master of Engineering and seasoned design engineer, Rob combines technical expertise with hands-on creativity. He leads the technical design and closely oversees construction to ensure every home meets our exacting standards. His hands-on involvement helps guarantee quality and precision throughout the building process, so nothing is left to chance.
When he’s not creating, Rob is out conquering mountains, cycling long trails, or dreaming up new challenges. His high standards and innovative mind are the backbone of Happynest Homes.
Linda
Linda brings extensive experience in project management and process improvement, paired with a keen eye for interiors. Her focus on organisation and clear communication ensures your journey with us is smooth, transparent, and tailored to your needs.
A nature lover at heart, she’s happiest hiking, horse riding, or exploring new landscapes. Linda’s strong communication and organisational skills create a seamless experience for clients, making visions a reality.

Our Vision
Our goal is to build off-grid communities, starting with our own land in North Yorkshire. We believe society is shifting. Too many people feel isolated, even in densely packed streets. The desire for real community is growing, and we want to help shape it.
We imagine places where you have your own space and privacy, but also shared gardens, workshops, food-growing spaces, and power systems. Where technology supports life rather than distracting from it. Where people share, collaborate, and look out for each other.
That’s the future we want to live in,
so we’re building it.
